Bob Huggins will not be fired after using an anti-gay slur in a radio interview this week. Instead, West Virginia has decided to suspend him and reduce his salary by $1 million while also requiring sensitivity training.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel broke the news of WVU’s decision Wednesday morning, details being finalized now.

West Virginia previously released a statement on Huggins’ behalf following the incident, stating the head coach’s words were ”completely insensitive and abhorrent” while adding he will accept any consequence coming his way.

“I am ashamed and embarrassed and heartbroken for those I have hurt,” Huggins said.
