Bellarmine University announced earlier today that its men’s and women’s basketball teams will play home games at Freedom Hall.
According to the school’s press release, they began looking for a larger venue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
By moving to the 18,252-seat Freedom Hall, Bellarmine will be able to have 2,700 fans this season under Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear’s recommendation of capping attendance at 15 percent capacity. Their normal venue, Knights Hall, seats 2,196 for basketball and would have been restricted to just over 300 fans this season.
