Earlier this month news broke that Nichols was granted his unconditional release from Memphis after threatening to sue because they were blocking a transfer to UVA. With the ability to transer anywhere Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Auburn, Notre Dame and anyone with an open spot began their pursuit of the 6’9 forward.
It was all for naught as he scheduled his visit to Virginia this weekend and then broke the news to radio station ESPN 929 that’s where he will be playing. Nichols averaged 13.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season and will have two years of eligibility remaining, starting in 2016-17.
