LEXINGTON – Kentucky football's options at quarterback are increasing after a week-one loss to Auburn.
Auburn transfer Joey Gatewood has been cleared to play the rest of the season by the Southeastern Conference, UK coach Mark Stoops announced on Wednesday. The SEC approved Gatewood's waiver request and others for players transferring from one league school to another due to "current circumstances resulting from disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic."
Stoops had previously indicated Gatewood had been approved for a NCAA waiver to play this season instead of sitting out the normal year required of FBS transfers, but the SEC also had to approve a waiver for him to play since he was transferring from one conference program to another.
