LEXINGTON — As the Kentucky men's basketball team prepares for a return to campus, the athletics department has released testing information from Wildcat football team's initial COVID-19 screening.
Of the 106 football players who were given COVID-19 antibodies tests as part of the return-to-campus screening, six tested positive for past infection. Those athletes were subsequently cleared to participate in voluntary workouts after an evaluation process.
UK is only conducting tests for active COVID-19 infections for athletes who present symptoms. While several schools have reportedly experienced outbreaks among athletes who have returned to campus, UK has released no information about whether any of the football players on campus have shown the symptoms that would necessitate a COVID-19 test.
