Kentucky's Ashton Hagans on the 2018-19 Wildcats Matt Stone, Louisville Courier Journal
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The first two weeks of Ashton Hagan’s freshman season did not go according to plan.
On the court, he totaled just four points on 2-of-6 shooting in his first three games with eight assists and seven turnovers. Off it, ESPN reported he was among the players aspiring agent Christian Dawkins planned to target with payments in hopes of securing them as clients one day.
“I talked to my dad. We really didn’t know who he was at all,” Hagans said of the ESPN report, which cited a business plan included in the evidentiary files for Dawkins’ trial resulting from the FBI’s investigation into corruption in college basketball.
