Congratulations to Ashton Hagans, who is one of 20 players on the preseason watch list for the Bob Cousy Award, presented annually to the best point guard in college basketball by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Last season, Hagans was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year after a freshman campaign that included 61 steals, which is tied with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the third most in program history, and 160 assists, the fifth-most by a UK freshman in school history. He’s also Kentucky’s leading returning scorer at 7.7 points per game.
Hagans is one of eleven underclassmen on the watch list and one of three players from the SEC, along with Florida’s Andrew Nembhard and Tennessee’s Lamonte’ Turner.
