Saturday marked the start of college basketball’s open recruiting period, which runs from fall to the early spring. Coaches are allowed to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations while also hosting recruits on campus visits — a free-for-all of sorts.
John Calipari and the Kentucky coaching staff have hit the ground running. It started with a trip to see five-star guard Darryn Peterson and five-star big Patrick Ngongba on Monday, with trips to see five-stars Jayden Quaintance and Caleb Wilson, among others, the rest of the week.
