SEC schools can’t stop themselves from drinking the Will Muschamp Kool-Aid. It’s an expensive drink that causes vomiting, heartburn and diarrhea, yet they continue to chug away, year after year.
After screaming his way out of a cushy setup at Florida, Gus Malzahn hired Muschamp as Auburn’s defensive coordinator. It only took one year for South Carolina to throw all of their money at the smooth-talking, sweaty Southerner. Five years later the Gamecocks threw $15 million at him to go away.
Searching for a new gig, Muschamp found one by calling an old friend, Kirby Smart. The former Georgia safety hired the other former Georgia safety to become a defensive analyst and “help coach the coaches,” whatever that means.
