He grew up in Kentucky.
First and foremost, Phillips is a Kentuckian at heart. His recruiting bio may read Mauldin, South Carolina, but he grew up in the Louisville area, until his dad’s job moved the family away from the Bluegrass a few years ago.
He is one of John Young’s close friends.
Young, the offensive lineman who committed to Kentucky over the weekend, told KSR, “I was childhood friends with him growing up… He’s a guy I think would love to come back home.”
