And they're off: UK basketball cruises past Transylvania in exhibition

LEXINGTON, Ky. – So it’s that time of year: College basketball season returned to the University of Kentucky on Friday night.

Well, sort of.

The nation’s second-ranked team got some sparring in at Rupp Arena, rolling to a 94-66 victory in the first of Kentucky’s two exhibition games before it faces No. 3 Duke on Nov. 6 in a heavyweight bout in Indianapolis to open the regular season.

It was about as competitive as you’d expect against NCAA Division III Transylvania University, a Lexington-based school about a mile away from UK on the map but perhaps a million more in terms of basketball distance.
