Texas A&M needed overtime to hand a ranked Kentucky team its first loss of the season, winning 20-14 in overtime on Saturday night.
Despite the play-making efforts of the Wildcats’ defense, their offense just couldn’t do enough against a stingy Aggies defense that dominated much of the game.
Lights out offensively
Saturday set up to be a bad matchup for Kentucky, primarily because Texas A&M entered the weekend leading the SEC in these statistics: Rushing defense and time of possession.
For the Wildcats, who were first in the league in rushing offense and second only to A&M in possession time, the Aggies were able to match strengths in a way that threatened UK’s livelihood – the ability to chew up ground yards and long drives.
