On Friday, the Indiana Pacers waived Poythress to help make room to add free agent Kyle O’Quinn.
Poythress played limited minutes after signing a two-year deal on December last season following a successful stint in the G-League. His contract was unguaranteed until later this month, so they had to act now before his contract for 2018-19 became locked in.
It’s unclear what this means for Poythress in the NBA Summer League. He was set to play in Las Vegas with the Pacers, and he technically still could, though it’s hard to see that after they just cut him.
