LEXINGTON, Ky. — When polled this week, experts in communications law expressed mixed opinions about NCAA basketball official John Higgins' lawsuit filed earlier this week against Kentucky Sports Radio.
The civil suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Nebraska on Tuesday, is "a real long shot" and it's likely a judge would rule "there's no basis for this to even go to trial," said Dr. William E. Lee, a University of Georgia professor who primarily teaches mass communication law.
Jon Fleischaker, chair of the First Amendment & Media Practice Group in Louisville, called it, "a new kind of lawsuit.
