Kentucky’s performance vs. UCLA was so disappointing that I was more than happy to focus on Christmas when I got home; however, now that the yule log is out, it’s time to reflect on my trip to New Orleans. Here are my observations from the game and the city that care forgot.
For one reason or another, Kentucky balked on the big stage
Let’s get one thing straight: UCLA is not that good. The Bruins gave Kentucky several opportunities to take control of the game, but the Cats didn’t take them. Most will point to three-point shooting/defense as the key to the game (UCLA made 12 threes, Kentucky 6), but I was more bothered by how Kentucky’s freshmen repeatedly went for the hard play instead of the easy one.
