LEXINGTON, Ky. — The 14 points the Kentucky football team scored in a minute and two seconds Saturday night came pretty easily.
But that painted a deceptive picture of a 37-13 season-opening win against Miami (Ohio). The other 58:58 didn’t much resemble it.
The Wildcats (1-0) were good enough to pull away from the RedHawks, but they needed a buzzer-beating second-quarter field goal from kicker Matt Ruffalo to take the lead into halftime. And that 14-point blitz to start the third quarter wasn’t the result of any offensive eruption.
There’s plenty to rework before Kentucky heads to Gainesville, Florida, next weekend for a date with Florida.
