One of the top forwards in the senior class is now off the board.
This morning, 2020 five-star forward and top-ten prospect Scottie Barnes committed to Florida State over offers from Oregon and Kentucky, among others.
Barnes was rated as the No. 9 overall prospect on both 247Sports and Rivals.com.
Oregon had long been seen as the heavy favorite in the 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward’s recruitment, though Florida State had picked up the majority of buzz in recent weeks.
As I wrote in my Pilgrim’s Insider Notes post last night, there was some speculation late last week that Kentucky was making a strong push for Barnes, with the West Palm Beach, FL native actually scheduling an official visit to Lexington for the school’s annual Blue-White Game for this weekend not long after.
