The Kentucky Wildcats were forced to split the SEC regular season title with the Texas A&M Aggies, but head coach John Calipari's squad made sure they'd have this championship all to themselves.
Point guard and SEC Player of the Year Tyler Ulis led the way for the Wildcats, recording a career-high 30 points with five assists and three steals to give Kentucky the 82-77 win. Guards Isaiah Briscoe (10 points, four rebounds, six assists) and Jamal Murray (17 points, five rebounds) also chipped in for Kentucky.
Both sides traded the lead multiple times in the first half, but it was Texas A&M who started to gain control right before halftime, using a 10-6 run to hold a 38-34 advantage at the break.
Kentucky didn't back down and immediately came out on fire at the start of the second half, regaining the lead and control with a 13-3 run, giving themselves a five point lead. They held that advantage for most of the half, but A&M narrowed the gap to two with less 30 seconds to play.
Star A&M guard Danuel House then hit a floater in the lane to tie the game at 71 with 15.3 seconds left, and after Ulis misses a fadeaway jumper at the buzzer, this game went into overtime.
Kentucky took control early in the overtime period thanks to a three-pointer from Ulis, but House answered later with a three-pointer of his own to tie the game with 1:30 left. Forward Derek Willis then hit another three to give the Wildcats back the lead, then after a stop, Murray cemented the win for Kentucky with this dagger from distance.
House carried Texas A&M offensively, also recording a career-high with 32 points to go along with six rebounds. Guard Alex Caruso also played a great all-around game, putting up 11 points with eight rebounds and six assists.
Kentucky now finishes the season with a 26-8 record, and are in prime position to grab a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. For Texas A&M, the loss drops them to 26-8 and a likely No. 4 seed in the tournament.
