JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Nicole Yeargin broke her own school record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 400-meter dash as the Kent State women's track and field team opened competition at the 2019 NCAA East Preliminary Championships.
Yeargin sprinted her way to the next round by placing second in her heat with a time of 52.81, which tops her previous record by 0.70 seconds. The quarterfinals are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The top-3 runners from each heat plus the next best three times among remaining competitors will advances to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
