Kent State junior guard C.J. Williamson stepped to the line as Kent State (4-1) led Vanderbilt (4-1) 77-75 with 0.5 seconds left.
Williamson threw the ball off the backboard before bouncing it in front of the rim, the horn sounding with Kent State celebrating the 77-75 win. This is their third straight season with a win against a “Power 5” team (with over Texas in 2017 and Oregon State in 2018).
The Flashes pulled off the victory despite being out-rebounded 44-24, which is a season-low for a Kent State team that had averaged 41 rebounds per game heading into the matchup.
