NEW ORLEANS – Kent State senior Jake Wickey added to an extensive awards collection, as he was named Great Lakes Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday.
Wickey was previously named Mid-American Conference Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer on Tuesday following his third career conference weight throw title. The victory was his fifth in a row, as he recorded a personal-best throw of 73'-8.75" that gives him a No. 5 national ranking this season. Wickey threw at least 69'-2.5" in all six meets and was one of only four throwers in the country to hit the 77'-3" mark in three meets.
