AKRON, Ohio – Kent State (25-23) fell to Toledo (24-25) in its first game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament, 4-2, at Firestone Stadium in Akron on Wednesday evening. It is the Golden Flashes' first loss in the tournament opener since 2014.
Home runs were the deciding factor, as every run was scored via the long ball.
The Rockets scored first and didn't relinquish the lead. In the second, a long one-out walk was coaxed and then followed with a two-run homer. Kent State cut the deficit in half in the fourth, as Kaitlyn Miller hit a leadoff homer, her third of the season.
