MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Kent State hit its second grand slam in the season's first six games and scored seven more runs in the late innings to blast Middle Tennessee and run away with a three-game weekend sweep at the Southern Athletic Fields Dirt Classic.
The Golden Flashes again used the big inning to level the opposition, building a 6-0 lead in the fourth and using Tim DalPorto's ninth-inning grand slam to pull away for good, 14-5 over the Blue Raiders. Last weekend, Josh Hollander hit a bases-loaded homer in the ninth inning of the season opener in Texas.
