TOLEDO, Ohio – Kent State scored the most runs against a Mid-American Conference opponent this season on Sunday and defeated host Toledo, 8-2, to take the final game of the series.
The Golden Flashes (19-14, 5-6 MAC) needed just seven hits and showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks while striking out just once. Nine different players had either a hit or run scored.
Graduate student Julia Mazanec helped Kent State take control in the top of the second inning with a leadoff single before advancing to second on a wild pitch.
