ATHENS, Ga. – Kent State capped opening weekend with a 9-1 six-inning victory over Howard on Sunday at the Red & Black Showcase.
The Golden Flashes (3-1) pounded out 15 hits on the day. Freshman Morgan Bowers, who made her first collegiate start, led the way with a 4-for-4 performance that included a home run and two RBIs. Seniors Kellie Abeska and Maria Cegledy and juniors Brenna Brownfield and Kennadie Goth all collected two hits.
Kent State scored in its first trip to the plate for the fourth time in as many games.
