BATON ROUGE, La. — Kent State trailed by just two at halftime before defending national champion LSU caught fire in the second half to pull away for a 109-79 victory Tuesday at the PMAC.
Redshirt senior Katie Shumate posted first double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while junior Jenna Batsch scored 16 points to set a new career-high for the second game in a row.
The Golden Flashes (1-1) led 11-8 at the first media timeout with the help of two three-pointers by junior Bridget Dunn and a third by Shumate.
