KENT, OHIO- Kent State graduating senior wrestler Tim Rooney has been named an honorable mention All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA)
Traditionally, the NWCA rewards All-America status based off a wrestler's performance at the National Championships. With this year's championships being canceled, the NWCA based their awards on the wrestler's body of works over the regular season and conference championships.
Rooney went 22-9 during the regular season before going a perfect 4-0 at the MAC Championships, capturing the conference crown at 133 pounds. Rooney is the first All-American for Kent State since Kyle Conel earned the distinction in 2018 at 197.
