ATHENS, Ohio – For the second straight year, Kent State baseball has been crowned the outright Mid-American Conference regular season champions, a feat now accomplished 14 times in program history.
The Golden Flashes clinched the title and the No. 1 seed at next week's MAC Tournament on Thursday, but the 5-2 win at Ohio on Saturday secured the outright championship.
After taking the first two games of the series, the Bobcats got a one-run lead in the second inning when a hit batter came around to score on a sacrifice bunt.
The game quickly became tied in the top of the third as Zach Schultz doubled, John Matthews moved him to third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout by Reilly Hawkins allowed the game to go to 1-1.
