TAMPA, Fla. – Riak Reese punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to lead six Kent State athletes in action Friday at the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
Racing on the biggest stage to this point of his collegiate career, Reese delivered the top-12 performance the men's 100-meter dash necessary to qualify for the national meet. He clocked a 10.20 to finish fifth in the fastest quarterfinals heat and 10th overall.
The day was not finished, however, for the speedster from Gahanna, Ohio. Only about 90 minutes later, Reese ran a personal-best 20.
