KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A pair of Kent State outdoor records were set as TJ Lawson claimed the men's decathlon title and Nicole Yeargin had an impressive performance in the women's 200-meter dash invitational at the Tennessee Relays on Friday.
Lawson set personal-records in two of the day's five events and finished with 7,876 points, besting the previous record set by Brendon Falconer in 1998 by 11 points. Georgia's Johannes Erm was the only collegiate athlete who had posted a better score this year entering the weekend.
Running the 200m dash for the first time during the 2019 outdoor season, Yeargin sprinted to a time of 23.
