University of Akron senior center Isaiah Johnson was named Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention on Wednesday.
Johnson is the third player in Akron history to earn AP All-America honors, the first since Romeo Travis in 2007.
Johnson was also named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, first all-team MAC and received first-team National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 14 honors.
Wrestling
Kent State had eight wrestlers named to the 2017 Academic All-MAC team, with juniors Stephen Suglio and Chance Driscoll each being recognized for the third time. Sophomores Devin Nye and Anthony Tutolo were named for the second time, and junior Jerald Spohn, sophomore Isaac Best and freshmen Tim Rooney and Jared Walker received the honor for the first time.
