University of Akron sophomore long jumper Terrell McClain just missed qualifying for the finals in the long jump Saturday at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore.
McClain’s jump 25-6 (7.77 meters) placed 13th in the 24-man semifinal field. The top-12 finishers in the semifinals advanced to Sunday’s finals.
“For Terrell it was a little heart breaking,” UA track coach Dennis Mitchell said in a news release. “He just missed the finals by one spot. Unfortunately, he also missed the finals by one position at the NCAA Championships as well. However, he made a good run of it this year.
