On the record: KSU takes three individual titles, one relay win on first day of Akron Invitational

Cayla Carey won the women’s long jump, Reginald Jagers won the men’s discus throw and Maria Horrigan placed first in the women’s pole vault to lead the Kent State track and field team on the first day of the Akron Invitational at the Stile Athletics Field House.

Jagers won the discus throw with a toss of 58.82, with his brother Phillip from the University of Akron in third place with a mark of 54.74.

Horrigan won the women’s pole vault (12-6¾), with teammate Morgan Estes in second. The KSU 4000 relay also placed first.

Saturday features the Gold Invitational, which begins with field events at 3 p.
