On the record: KSU men’s golf team tied for 12th after first day at Valspar Invitational

The Kent State men’s golf team finished the first day of the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in Palm City, Fla., in 12th place through the first 36 holes.

The Golden Flashes shot a 28-over 596 at the Floridian National Golf Club, 26 strokes behind leader Texas.

Chase Johnson (Walsh Jesuit) and Gisli Sveinbergsson are tied for 20th place at 5 over to lead the Flashes.

Josh Whalen is tied for 45th place, Ian Holt (Stow) is tied for 57th place and Sebastian Benden is tied for 60th place.
