Kent State’s T.J. Lawson finished the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in eighth place in the men’s decathlon. Lawson was third in the high jump and sixth in the long jump on Wednesday in Eugene, Ore.
Lawson scored a personal best in each event and completed the first day of events with 4,209 points, another personal best.
The Golden Flashes’ Samory Fraga leaped 22 feet, 11¼ inchesto finish 23rd in the men’s long jump and earn All-America Honorable Mention honors.
