Kent State’s Reggie Jagers placed seventh in the men’s discus at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships Saturday in Sacramento, Calif. His younger brother, Phil Jagers from the University of Akron, finished 14th and failed to advance to the finals.
Phil Jagers faulted on both his first and third throws, and his second throw of 180-1 was not enough to crack the top eight.
Reggie Jagers had his best throw of the day (192-5) on his first attempt.
Akron’s Matt Ludwug, the reigning NCAA men’s pole vault champion, did not get out of the first round, faulting on three attempts at the opening height of 17-8½.
