Kent State’s Danniel Thomas led the way for the Golden Flashes at the SPIRE Division I Invitational Saturday, winning the shot put with a mark of 56-6¾.
Her winning toss was more than four feet better than the rest of the field, which was filled competitors from the Mid-American Big Ten Conferences.

Mike Ohiembor had the best finish for the University of Akron track and field team on the final day of the Don Kirby Invitational Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M. Ohiembor finished fifth in the men’s triple jump at 50-9¼.

For the second weekend in a row, Akron swept a pair of matches — 6-1 over Oakland and a 7-0 over Morgan State at the LaTuchie Tennis Center in Stow.
