Kent State’s Anthony Tutolo punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships at the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships at Northern Iowa.
Eight Golden Flashes wrestled at Northern Iowa’s McLeod Center, with seven placing in the top seven spots.
On Saturday, Tutolo beat Ohio’s Cam Kelly in the quarterfinals at 133 pounds. Kelly won his seventh-place match on Sunday, sealing Tutolo’s top-six finish and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Casey Sparkman (Perry) made a strong candidate for an NCAA at-large bid. Sparkman was third place at 157, coming up one spot short of an automatic bid.
