On the record: Kent State men’s golf team tied for fourth place after first round of NCAA Regional

The No. 12 Kent State men’s golf team completed the first round in the top five at the NCAA Washington Regional at the par 71 Aldarra Golf Club on Monday.

The Golden Flashes collectively shot a 3-over 287 to tie No. 13 Texas A&M for fourth place. The top five teams in the field after three rounds will advance to the NCAA National Championship.

No. 24 Florida State is in first place at 6 under.

Senior Josh Whalen led the Flashes with a 1-under 70. He started with a birdie on the opening hole, and finished the day with five birdies total.
