Jim Harvey placed first in the heavyweight class at the JT Kalnay Memorial Open Olympic Lifting Meet on April 23 in Grafton.
Competing in the 65-69 age group, Harvey lifted 66 kilograms in the snatch and 77 kilograms in the clean and jerk.
Harvey, 67, is the last active former student of Akron weightlifting legend Larry Barnholth. Harvey, who started lifting in 1974, now operates Barnholth’s lifting club, the American College of Modern Weightlifting, in its 96th year of existence, at his home in Manchester.
