Hannah Plybon (Orrville) set a new single-game 3-point record in the University of Akron’s 73-64 win at Canisius College Sunday in women’s basketball.
Plybon connected on 9-for-14 shots from beyond the arc en route to a career-high 39 points. She was 12-for-21 from the field and a 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Her 39 points are the second-best single-game scoring effort in Zips history.
Akron came out on fire, shooting 80 percent from the 3-point line in the first quarter with Plybon hitting 5-of-7. She scored 15 of her 39 points in the quarter.
Megan Sefcik added a career-high 12 points off the bench for the Zips (2-1).
