Former University of Akron All-American and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Clayton Murphy advanced in both the 800 and 1,500 meters Thursday night at the USATF Outdoor National Championships in Sacramento, Calif.
Murphy ran the top qualifying time in his heat in the 800 (1:47.88) to advance to the semifinals and ran a 3:40.94 to qualify for Saturday’s final in the 1,500 with the fourth-fastest time in the semifinal round.
The 800 semifinal was late Friday night and the final is Sunday.
