On the record: Former Crestwood star Bridget Franek finishes sixth in finals of steeplechase at Olympic Trials

Former Crestwood High School standout Bridget Franek fell short in her bid to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio DiJeneiro, Brazil, finishing sixth in the final of the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday night.

Franek finished in 9:33.51, well behind winner Emma Coburn (9:17.48).

Phillip Jagers of the University of Akron failed to advance to the final in the discus.

Jagers finished 15th with a throw of 188 feet, 4 inches (57.41 meters) and was 11th in his heat.
