Dom Iero (North Canton Hoover) homered and drove in six runs for the Kent State baseball team in a 15-0 win over Belmont on Friday in Nashville in the season opener for both teams.
The Golden Flashes (1-0) play Belmont on Saturday and Sunday before heading to Miami for the Florida International University tournament on Feb. 24.
Reilly Hawkins, Patrick Ferguson and Brad Hamilton each homered and Dylan Rosa knocked in two runs for the Flashes.

Kent State split a doubleheader on Friday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
