The Kent State Athletics crowdfunding campaign was taken to another level last month. In only its second year, the athletic department more than doubled its numbers of donors and dollars raised compared to a successful 2017 crowdfunding campaign.
On Nov 1, 2018, 16 teams requested funding for various projects to meet needs within their programs. With an initial overall goal of $100,000, the 16 micro-campaigns started by The Golden Flashes Club, raised over $150,000 in 27 days, totaling over 1,100 gifts from Golden Flashes supporters all over the globe.
"Crowdfunding is making a very meaningful impact on our student-athlete experience," Associate Athletic Director J Locklier said.
