Northern Illinois 31, Kent State 21: Huskies send Flashes to season-ending defeat

KENT: Kent State challenged perennial conference stalwart Northern Illinois at Dix Stadium on Friday, but the Huskies pulled out a 31-21 win after back-to-back touchdowns from senior tailback Joel Bouagnon in the fourth quarter.

It was 7-7 at halftime but the Flashes (3-9, 2-6 Mid-American Conference) couldn’t slow the Huskies’ resurgent offense in the second half. KSU surrendered 17 unanswered points before reversing course with a 10-yard touchdown pass from sophomore George Bollas (Aurora) to fifth-year senior tight end Brice Fackler. By then, the damage had been done. KSU’s touchdown came with just over two minutes to play and the Huskies corralled the Flashes’ ensuing onside kick attempt.
