UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Kent State (31-10) beat Penn State (24-18) 6-2 Wednesday night behind a brilliant start from freshman Joey Murray to hand him his first collegiate victory.
Murray went 7.0 innings on the mound with just four hits and one walk while striking out nine. He ended six of his seven frames with a strikeout in the contest.
In the 3rd, the Golden Flashes broke through when Luke Burch led off with a single, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. He scored easily during the next at-bat on a base hit by Mason Mamarella.
