CAREFREE, Ariz. – The No. 20 Kent State University men's golf team is in the lead after round one of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate.

Kent State finished its first 18 holes at a 7-under par score of 281. The Golden Flashes are the only team in the tournament that finished the day under par Friday, giving them an eight stroke lead on Arizona State and Minnesota. As a team, Kent State registered 25 birdies and an eagle, with three scorers under par.

Three Flashes enter round two in the top-5, led by Gisli Sveinbergsson in the overall lead.
