Men’s Basketball Falls to Liberty

KENT, OHIO- The Kent State University men's basketball team (2-1) dropped its Friday night game to the Liberty Flames (3-0), 70-77.

Jalen Avery led the Golden Flashes with a game-high 23 points on 6-of-14 (42.8 percent) shooting overall and 3-of-9 (33.3 percent) from 3-point range. Phillip Whittington recorded a season-high 14 points with six rebounds, followed by CJ Williamson who rounded out the Flashes' double-figure scoring with 12 points.

Five minutes into the first half Liberty took the lead, 7-4. A fastbreak layup by Mitch Peterson put Kent State in striking distance that followed up with a pair of Avery free throws which gave Kent State its first lead, 8-7.
