MORGANTOWN, WV- Kent State started the 2021 championship season taking on the host West Virginia Mountaineers and the Virginia Tech Hokies as part of the Mountaineer Duals.
The Flashes fell 22-9 to the host Mountaineers and 32-9 to the #9 Virginia Tech Hokies on Sunday. Andrew McNally led the charge for Kent State, the senior picked up a pair of victories by decision. McNally topped WVU's Scott Joll 8-3 in the opener and earned a 13-8 decision against Dakota Howard of Virginia Tech.
Against the Mountaineers, Jake Ferri got a pair of escapes and a takedown in the second period to earn a 4-3 victory by decision over Killian Cardinale as Kent State took an early 3-0 lead.
